Hi
Welcome to Microsoft community.
I understand that you’re experiencing issues with your USB 3.0 ports. Here are a few suggestions you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
- Check USB power settings: Open the Power Options in the Control Panel and make sure the USB Selective Suspend Setting is disabled. This can sometimes cause issues with USB devices.
- Reset BIOS settings: Try resetting the BIOS settings to their default values. You can usually do this by entering the BIOS setup during startup (usually by pressing a specific key like Del or F2) and finding the option to reset to default settings. Disclaimer: Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party linked sites or any support related to technology. If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.
- Check physical connections: Make sure all connections between the motherboard and the USB ports are secure. Sometimes loose connections can cause issues. Additionally, try connecting your USB device to different USB ports to see if the problem persists.
- Update chipset drivers: Visit the manufacturer’s website for your motherboard and download the latest chipset drivers. Install them and see if it resolves the issue.
- Try a USB 2.0 hub: If you have a USB 2.0 hub available, try connecting your USB 3.0 device through it. This may allow it to work at USB 2.0 speeds, but it could help determine if the issue is specifically with USB 3.0.
- Please open the case of your computer and inspect the USB cable to ensure it is functioning correctly. Pay attention to any unusual looseness or damage. Additionally, check the USB 3.0 slot on your motherboard to determine if it is securely attached or if there is any looseness.
I hope one of these suggestions helps resolve the issue with your USB 3.0 ports. Good luck!
Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.
