New PC/Windows 10: App does not show up in Microsoft store but on Microsoft store website, wont install because 'you own this app'.

I have a new PC with a fresh installation of Windows 10. I am logged in with a new Microsoft account. Windows 10 is updated.

I installed several streaming apps from the Microsoft store (Amazon Prime Video, Netflix etc.), no issues.

I tried to install Max (HBO) and Peacock. The Microsoft store on the PC does not show these apps. However, the website from the Microsoft Store will show them, with a big blue button stating 'Install'. When selecting, I was asked to log on, and then the Microsoft website states 'You own this app'.

Neither one is installed on the PC, and since I have a new Microsoft account, nothing was ever installed before, so this 'You own this app' message is wrong.

I updated the store/library and app, I did the repair with the store, I reset the store and even uninstalled and re-installed it. Just like written up on Microsoft's website.

No success. I keep getting the same results.

Can someone tell me what the problem is, and how it can be fixed?

    Hello, this is Emily.

I don't these two apps are supported on Windows platform though. If you look at them on the Store web version, then go to System requirement tab, you would see that they are for Xbox platform only. This is why they won't show up for you when you search on your Windows Store app.

I am afraid you would have to go to HBO website and Peakcock website to stream via browser if you want to use them on Windows OS platform.

Thank you for your quick reply and straight forward answer, which solved this issue.

Of course I looked at the system requirements, I guess the 'comma' in between threw me off. Cause it looks (sounds) like 'Xbox' or Windows 10 version ....'.

It should rather say 'Xbox with Windows 10 version ....'.

    Thank you again.
