SteelSeries extension under Windows Update

So today I was looking through updates and I had a pending install for SteelSeries ApS - Extension - 1.0.10.0. I was wondering why Windows Update would ask me to install this extension even though I don't use SteelSeries products.

Can anyone explain to me why I was asked to download this extension and is it necessary for a Windows 10 device?

You can also try contacting SteelSeries for any recommendations regarding the issue. However, I recommend just keeping the driver update.

You're most welcome and have a great day.

Thank you for the fast response John!

Before I try to hide the drivers I did see if I could uninstall them and it seems like I can't. Should I contact SteelSeries about solving this issue, maybe Microsoft or should I hide them so they aren't installed?

Hi, good day! I'm John Dev a Windows user like you and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.

Note: It is always recommended to download and install drivers from the manufacturer's Support page. If you're not experiencing any hardware issues and you don't use SteelSeries products, there's no need to install this driver update.

Please try using the “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter to hide the driver updates. Window Update won’t install hidden drivers or updates. Run the troubleshooter then please try hiding the SteelSeries extension driver update that will show in the list. You may try restarting your pc if it helps.
