Samsung S21 Ultra cannot use MTP on Windows 11 desktop but OK on laptop. Pixel 7 OK on both.

My Samsung S21 Ultra cannot do MTP file transfers on my Windows 11 desktop but works OK on my Windows 11 laptop. My wife's Pixel 7 does MTP on both. All security settings are identical on laptop and desktop. I have not detected any Events in Event Viewer. If I switch the phone to "Transfer Images", the phone appears in Windows Explorer on the desktop and all image folders are available. I have updated the system in both the Desktop and Phone. I have tried to update the Samsung driver in Windows Device Mgr, but the updater says I already have the latest driver.

    My laptop and desktop have the same driver 9/26/2022 Version 2.19.10, but on the laptop, it shows up as a driver under the device "Samsung Phone", but on the desktop, it shows up under "USB Controllers" devices as "Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device".

    So now I am really mystified. Why does the same driver show up different ways on 2 PCs running the same OS version?

    Samsung DEX is not active. Never had it active. Will probably delete it. Don't want to use my phone as a pseudo-PC.

    Have you enabled Samsung dex option in the smartphone? If yes try disabling it and then reconnecting it.

    That didn't fix it. I can only use the USB "transfer images" option. MTP does not connect.

    Hi, I am Jaspreet Singh.

    In the device manager instead of choosing update driver click on Uninstall device.

    Confirm the choice if you get to delete the driver too.

    Once done unplug the phone and restart your computer.

    Then plug the phone again and check if the MTP mode is available now.
