Microphone won't work with Realtek(R) Audio driver. Please Help :(

For reference, i'm currently running a Windows 10, with a GIGABYTE B450M DS3H V2 (rev. 1.x) motherboard, and have been for roughly the past year or so. But ever since the latest version of realtek has overtaken my audio systems, basically everything's been screwed. My computer detects the mic no problem, but no sound goes through, just a low quiet static noise.

Here's some things I've already tried to fix the main problem:

- set mic as default

- try the mic on another computer to see if its a hardware problem (it's not)

- in microphone properties, I've turned the volume slider all the way up

- change microphone jacks

- restart computer

- disable microphone, and re-enable it

- run windows mic troubleshooter

- uninstall and reinstall the realtek audio driver

- update realtek audio driver to a newer version (more info later)

- update realtek audio driver to an older version (more info later)

- given all apps permission to microphone

^ none worked

The picture below shows the Realtek Audio Console, where everything is managed by the Realtek audio driver, I've been messing around with the settings and nothing seems to work, just showing it so maybe someone can see something that I couldn't.

I also wanted to talk briefly about the way I updated the audio driver, because I think I may have done it wrong. Many times when executing the audio driver installer (picture below), and following all the instructions, the original driver just comes back like nothing ever happened. Then the installer comes back and asks me to follow the instructions again, creating an inifinite loop. (for anyone wondering, I got the installer from the offical Gigabyte support page)

Here's some things I've tried to fix THIS problem:

- manually uninstall the original Realtek Audio Driver

- go to command prompt, type in sysdm.cpl, click on the Hardware tab, and change Device Installation settings (picture below) - instead of using the installer, browse my computer for past compatible drivers (there was only one other driver, and it didn't fix my mic problems)

^ none worked.

(and before anyone asks, I have an adapter for this microphone, and it all worked just fine before Realtek took over)

    Hello shinylogz,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

Did you try selecting the option shown as below in Realtek Audio Console?

Or you can Perform a clean boot (microsoft.com) to see if it is normal, this is a troubleshooting step. In this mode, we can further confirm whether it is caused by system problem or third-party software or personalized settings. So, please be patient.

NOTE: Don not uncheck the "Realtek Audio Service" in System Configuration.

Disclaimer*: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.*

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step so that it will help you get you back on track.

You may create a new test account, and switch to the newly created account to see if the function is normal. Because this cannot be ruled out due to the wrong configuration. Visit****Create a local user or administrator account in Windows (microsoft.com)****for more details.

    • Create a local user account
    1. Select Start > SettingsAccountsFamily & other users. (In some versions of Windows you'll see Other users.)
    2. Select Add someone else to this PCI don't have this person's sign-in information, and on the next page, select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
    3. Enter a user name, password, or password hint - or choose security questions—and then select Next.
    • Change a local user account to an administrator account
    1. Select StartSettingsAccounts.
    2. Under Family & other users, select the account owner name (you should see "Local Account" below the name), then select Change account type.
    3. Under Account type, select Administrator, and then select OK.
    4. Sign in with the new administrator account.

Note: If the new account is normal, please do not delete the old account before backing up the data of the old account to avoid any data loss.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
