How do I get "recent folders" to appear in "save as" options?

Hi. Whenever I save as documents, files, or anything, here's the prompt that appears

Well, I do often need to save multiple documents in the same place. So, it's really annoying that I have to manually browse the same folder over and over.

While there's a "quick access" feature, this did not solve my problem, because

  1. It needs me to scroll every time I want it.
  2. even when I scroll for it, there is "frequent folders" rather than "recent folders"

Imagine, I'm saving3 installation files for pc maintenance, so I save the installation files do D/Applications/Pc maintenance I do this 3 times

next time, I save 3 videos, and I browse again for D/Videos

next time, I save another 5 files for pc maintenance, I will have to manually browse back again.

In my previous computer, which uses Windows 7, the recent folder feature does help a lot for this kind of thing. Now I have to manually browse the folder every time I save something, despite they are on similar folders.

Hi Bram96, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

Recent folders may have been removed by default in Windows 10 File Explorer, but it is still accessible. You may try the method from this article to pin it to your navigation pane so it is visible in the Save As dialog.

I collapsed it before saving the file in a folder from Recent folder. The next time I open the Save As window, it is already collapsed, and it is pointing to my last save location. Try to replicate the steps I did and see if it works for you.

I believe the last folder where you save a file should be set as default. But you can collapse the This PC (the arrow to expand/collapse beside it) so it doesn't show all locations under it and then select the folder you want to save the file from the Recent folder under Quick Access. The next time you save something, it should point to the correct folder.

    Thanks! It's work!
Now just a bit of tweak, is it possible, to make the default "save as" button show that "recent folder"? By now, I have to manually scroll every time

    Thanks ! It's really working

While it will be better if the "recent folder' can be default ones instead of "this PC", which will reducing clicks, especially when we save a lot of files in simmilar folders, overall, this is really helpful.
