USB Not Recognized

Hello! I have a printer for a very long time, but the old cable I used broke, I haven't printed with it for over a year, and today I bought a cable because we use need it for school, but when I tried to install the drivers off of it, it asked for me to connect the printer, even though it was connected, I took out the cable, put it back in, it didn't work, changed ports, still doesn't work, then I checked for updates and made sure everything was up-to-date on my laptop, but then I just got the USB device not recognized (The last USB device you last connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it), my printer's a Brother HL-1112E.

  • Note: In device manager it shows as an Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed), I also tried to extract the drivers from the .EXE but when I try loading them it says it's a 32-bit driver, not 64-bit, even though I downloaded 64-bit ones.

Please help! Do I switch the cable for another one? I also have to say, this cable has a Ferrite Bead (The little cylinder on old chargers) and has that something to do with this?

OS: Windows 11

Printer: Brother HL-1112E

    Hi , NokiPlays.

Apparently there is a problem with the cable or USB input on the printer.

In this case, I recommend returning the USB cable and getting another one. If the problem occurs with the new cable, test another computer if there is still an error with the unknown cable and the USB input on the Printer.

    Hope this helps.

You must install Intel or amd chipset and usb drivers supplied by the laptop manufacturer

If you reinstalled Windows 11 y using a USB pen drive means, then your USB port is working.

So try with another good quality Printer cable of 1.5Meter.

Also, connect your printer to another computer if possible.

Hi Ivan! So I already tried to plug in my printer in all 3 porta off of my laptop, same issue, and sadly i've got not other laptop/computer. I tried to Re-Install a Clean Windows 11 Installation though, as previously i was using ReviOS, but it still didn't work sadly. Are there any drivers or something i can install, or do i return this cable and get another one, also has the Ferrite Bead got something to do with this? Thanks in advance!

    Hi , NokiPlays.

I am Ivan, I will help you with this.

OK, have you tested another USB port on your computer and is there a problem?

Test the printer and USB cable on another computer to check if there is a possible hardware failure in the printer's USB port.
