I have a 'HP PAVILION' laptop with windows 10, had it for almost 4 years now and i never ran into this issue. the audio jack port doesn't recognize any headset or cabled earphones (the sound works perfectly with bluetooth devices), even when i plug them in my pc doesn't recognize them and when i run the troubleshoot it says that no devices are plugged in. WHen plugged in the audio devices play this weird sound like a 'laser beam' sound effect every 30 seconds... All drivers are up to date.

I also suspect that the issue may be with the hardware. I recommend taking your laptop to an HP Service Center near you or in a reputable technician capable of properly troubleshooting the audio port on your laptop.

You're most welcome and have a great weekend.

I followed the steps that you have provided, but its still happening, i plug a new headset that was never plugged on my laptop before, it doesn't show up in the device manager or in the audio settings, it also plays that laser sound.

about the sound effect : every 30 ~ 40 seconds, it plays something similar to this :

i haven't used my headset for quite sometime on my laptop but i used it on my xbox controller to play on console, so i would say that i just noticed this issue 3 days ago. I never installed anything that would harm my audio settings.

Thanks for all the help, again.

Thank you for updating me with that information. When was the last time it worked properly?

Please try the additional method below.

Press Start then search Device Manager

Expand Sound, video and game controllers

    Find the Realtek Audio driver.

Right click it and select Uninstall device

Put a check mark "Delete this driver software for this device"

    Click Uninstall

After that, download and install the latest driver for your device using the link below.

I thank you for the help, unfortunately nothing works, I looked up some causes to this and couldn't find anything about the 'laser beam' sound effect playing even if the plugged headphones are considered "unplugged & unrecognisable", yet nothing appears as connected devices for the playback menu in sound settings.

I tried to carefully clean the audio jack, restart my pc many times, update drivers, check for viruses, but nothing works...

I appreciate your time for helping me with this.

i forgot to mention that my headset works fine on other devices, now when i plug it i can't even change its settings and it doesnt appear in the device manager.
