Hi Chandy, I seem to be going over the same ground with this question! At present, all my videos and photos taken with my "Web Camera" app are saved to the "new" Photo app (which I am pleased with) If I wasn't using this app the only other place they are stored on my PC are in Camera roll in "D" drive! I only found by chance today when the Camera roll in "C" drive was empty! I thought at the time why "D" drive? I am sure before the new "Photo" app came out they where saved to Camera roll "C" ! It crossed my mind that people would be looking high and low for them! Is something not set right on my PC ? The question of not having a choice where to save seems to be asked quiet regularly.

PS it was just by chance I clicked on "D" drive, a folder called Brian, Pictures and then Camera roll and there they where!!

Brian

Hope your keeping well.

    Hello, Brian

    Hope your keeping well.

I started a new topic, it seems that you are facing a new situation where the default save location for his videos and photos captured using the "Web Camera" app has changed. Previously, the media was saved to the Camera Roll on the "C" drive, but now it appears to be saved in a folder on the "D" drive. Is my understanding correct? If there are any mistakes, please feel free to correct me.

Generally speaking, this should not be the behavior of the "Web Camera" app saving new photos. According to my own Web camera app test, it should be saved in the following path "C:\Users\Users Name\Pictures\Camera Roll", If it's convenient, could you please share some information with me?

Are there any settings within either of these apps that allow for specifying the save location for photos and videos? If you are using Windows 10, please check here:

**1.**Open Settings, and click/tap on the System icon.

**2.**Click/tap on Storage on the left side, and click/tap on the Change where new content is saved link under More storage settings on the right side. (see screenshot below)

    3. If the location has been modified to "D" before, please try to modify it back to "C" and observe whether the new photos saved by Web Camera will be saved to the D drive or not.

Please feel free to let me know if any further updates, thanks :)

Hi Chandy, thanks for trying to help me again today much appreciated. I have decided to go back to "Camera Alternative" out of the "Store". Although more basic it does more or less what I want it to. It saves to "My Videos and the New Photo app". (no looking around wondering where is it). The synchronizing of the sound and me is also better. I think I swapped back to the Windows Camera app because there is no brightness adjustment of the screen on this one etc!

I guess the good thing about faults is "your learning things" ! I really do appreciate what I have learned by joining the "Community" !

    Talk soon

    Will see how things go!

    Enjoy your weekend

    Hello, Brian

It sounds like you've done some thorough troubleshooting on your own. Your efforts to change the settings and even reinstall the app are steps many would recommend. It's quite frustrating when software doesn't behave as expected, especially when it seems to defy the settings you've specified. Here is a solution, see steps below:

Using a BAT file to restore Default Location of Camera Roll Folder:

    1. Click hereto download this file and double-click it to run it.
    2. Your screen may temporarily go black as a command prompt opens and closes as explorer is restarted to apply the changes, If there are any unsaved files, remember to save them :)
    3. Copy any files you wanted from the incorrect Camera Roll folder location into the now restored default like C:\Users\Users Name\Pictures\Camera Roll location.
    4. If you like, you can delete the incorrect Camera Roll folder in D: drive.
    5. Restart your computer and check again to see if the problem persists.

    Best regards.

Hi Chandy, checked my settings has you suggested and they are all set like yours "C" ! I changed the photo/video one to "D" and applied then back to "C" (to see if it would kick start it). I did a quick video but it saved it to "Camera roll" D drive ! Also yesterday I uninstalled the camera app with PowerShell. I then reinstalled it and tried again, the first time it saved to "C" drive but after that "D" again !

    Hope this explains !

I may uninstall again and try !

    Brian.

So annoying you can't change the save to where you want (within the app)
