Hello, I am losing my mind, I don't know if my exact scenario has been solved, since I haven't found any answer on this website, or the internet. I'll try be as short and as precise as possible. I had to reinstall windows for a HP 250 G9 6Q947ES which initially had Windows 11, I wanted to install windows 10, as I don't like windows 11, i downloaded media creation tool to my usb, configured bios to boot from usb, as soon as the windows 10 installation came up I could not use the trackpad, i was thinking maybe its because I had an external mouse plugged in, so i just installed windows as normal, done all the updates, touchpad still doesnt work, i tried to install the drivers using HP utility tool, but it doesn't help, tried to fiddle with everything in device manager, still nothing, i even went as far and as stupid as copying driver files from the same identical laptop because I have a few to which i applied the same procedure of reinstalling windows, they are all fine, only this one is just bad, at the moment im trying to Reset this PC from local files, then do the updates and possibly upgrade back to windows 11 through windows updates without using external mouse, i don't know, I'm exhausted and i need this fixed ASAP, if anyone has any suggestions, please advise.

Thanks a lot for your prompt response, wish I could have seen it before I fixed it, the thing is that i tried installing windows 11 before and it didn't help, however now I've done the following. Reset this PC on windows 10, upgrade to windows 11 through windows updates, install further updates on windows 11, and then it downloaded appropriate drivers, as you have said. I wish I knew this weird thing before downgrading to win10 heh.

I thought it would just be some very old default thing where drivers would just be downloaded no matter whether its win10 or 11, because from my experience win11 is just a prettier GUi than win10, so i didn't expect it to cause this huge issue! 😅 thanks again for fast response, and apologies for this post which has probably been discussed many times.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

Have you contacted HP to find out if this laptop supports Windows 10?

HP has only made drivers available for Windows 11, and there is a small chance that some drivers may not work correctly with Windows 10.

Download and install the drivers below, restart your PC, and see if the touchpad will work.

    Intel Serial IO Driver: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp149001-149500/...

Intel Human Interface Device (HID) Event Filter Driver: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp149001-149500/...

ELAN Precision Touchpad Filter Driver: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp149001-149500/...
