How can I fix my laptop?

I recently had a major problem with my HP elite book. During a update the power cord came unplugged and my laptop got stuck in a loop. Currently whenever I boot it up it will say finishing update and then after about 15 seconds, the laptop restarts and shows the same message. I believe that the BIOS may have become corrupted, but I am clueless. No important files need recovery I just want to get this fixed!

    Hi Sheldon -

I'm Jerico T., I understand that you're having some issues right now, I'll do my best to help you with your concern.

It seems that there's some system files that has been corrupted due to the interrupted update. I'm afraid we have to reinstall Windows on your computer, however, you will need to access a working computer to create a bootable drive. If you wish to proceed, please click the link below and follow the steps for Custom Install.

Feel free to reach back if you need any further assistance.

Hope this help. Have a good day.

    Thank you,

    Jerico T.

    Hello Sheldon,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

Based on the information you've provided, it looks like you haven't performed a fresh Windows install yet, right?

If yes, you can boot from your original system and follow the steps below to get into winRE and then try the following:

Steps to enter winRE (From a black or blank screen)

    1. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
    2. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
    3. On the first sign that Windows has started (for example, some devices show the manufacturer’s logo when restarting) hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
    4. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
    5. When Windows restarts, hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
    6. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
    7. Allow your device to restart into Automatic Repair and select Advanced Options to enter winRE.
    8. On the Choose an optionscreen, select TroubleshootAdvanced options.

You can follow the steps below:

    1. Select "Uninstall Updates" to uninstall recent updates (which include Quality updates and Feature updates, try both).
    2. "Startup Settings" > "Restart", after the restart, you'll see a list of options. Select 4 or press F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode. Or if you'll need to use the internet, select 5 or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking. Then log in normally.
    3. If you have created a system restore point before, you can restore it to that state using the "System Restore", but the data since the establishment of the restore point will be lost, please operate with caution.
    4. If none of the above solutions work, you can reset the system (on the Troubleshoot page), and you can choose whether to keep your user data or not.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
