I have several apps saved in the WindowsApps folder on my C: drive. I am wondering if it is safe to delete them as I do not use them?

My laptop is getting very low on space and there are several apps in the WindowsApps folder in my C drive I do not use and I do not believe them to be essential. These apps/programs includes Microsoft Office and it's connected programs and Skype. I use a separate program to write documents and other things and I have never used Skype and have no plans to. I went to uninstall them in Apps and Features in PC Settings but they do not show up there. Nor do they shows up in Programs and Features in the control panel or Programs and Apps folders in the start menu. Forced updates from Windows has whittled my already small hard drive even smaller and I really need to clean up space. The Skype and Windows Office folders are nearly 3 GB in size.

I am currently running Windows 10 on a HP Stream laptop with a 27.8gb Hard drive with less than 2gb of space left on the hard drive. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you for the update.

When you say it did nothing what exactly happened? After removal some icons remain in the start list/menu & these need to be manually removed from the Start menu but the program is removed.

Apps are under their own tab on the left side, once you double click on the app a command prompt will open to uninstall the app, then Revo should show the option to scan for leftovers, once chosen & completed it will show a list of files (if any remain) for you to manually select then choose delete. It will then either move to a remaining folders screen for the user to delete or a completed screen if no further leftovers remain.

Those may be apps which were pre-installed with the pc or just links to the office website. Revo will only show installed apps & programs.

You can try manually removing the entries.

    Edition Windows 10 Home
    Version 22H2
    Installed on ‎2/‎18/‎2022
    OS build 19045.3448
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19044.1000.0

I downloaded and tried Revo and it didn't do anything for me. For some reason the only place on my laptop where Microsoft Office and Skype files/folders is in WindowsApps.

Hello, I’m Virginia, a fellow user like yourself.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems. May I ask which Windows 10/11 build are you running - 21H2 or 22H2?

Yes, many apps can be uninstalled. I would use Revo to cleanly remove them:

    Try Revo uninstaller free:

    https://www.revouninstaller.com/products/revo-u...

The uninstaller will run the program’s own uninstaller then allow the user to run a ‘scan for leftovers’, if the uninstall fails you can still scan for leftovers which will then be akin to a forced uninstall & will remove the program.

For Apps these are shown under their own tab on the left - Windows Apps.

Here is the Disk Management Picture. Image

It doesn't help that every since the latest update my free hard drive space has been fluctating wildly. It actually got down to 110mb last night before shooting back to 1.87gb.

Neither Microsoft Office or Skype show up in Programs and Features. The only place I have found them is in the WindowsApps folder. I also find it weird how in storage in Settings shows 8.98gb used by Apps & Features there is nothing that large in there when I click on it. Temporary files apparently has 942mb inside most of which is listed as Updates.

    Hi,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

If you have permission to delete the apps and you do not use them anymore, you can delete the apps but it is risky to change files inside this folder as it may cause other programs to not function well.

Skype does not consume much space and you can uninstall Microsoft Office from Control Panel > Programs and Features.

You mentioned that your system drive is only 27GB, which is not sufficient for a system drive. Let's see if we can extend the system partition, kindly right click on Start > Disk Management > Maximize it > Take a screenshot and post it back.

    Meanwhile, access the link below:

    https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free

Download then run the free TreeSize tool as administrator to identify which file or folder consumes the free space.

You can also try the following steps to free up drive space:

Please let me know if you need further assistance and keep me updated.
