Should I do a Factory Reset? Will it CLEAN my computer?

I was told by an HP tech that my computer is badly infected and my identity is breached. They wanted to charge me to fix it. Can I just do a FACTORY RESET to clean it up and start over? All my files are stored in Dropbox, so there's nothing for me to lose on the computer. Also, if I do a reset, how do I reinstall windows 11 and microsoft office?

I called the HP service center number that came with the printer. They logged n to my computer to try to connect the printer for me because it kept saying "Error"

They spent a good 45 minutes researching the problem and came back with this report:

"Issues Found. Unauthorized Activity. Unusual Access. Unknown network connection. Trojan and Spyware found. Activated in drivers package. Professional clean up needed. One-time fix $239.99"

    There are some options:

    a) factory reset > typically installs unneeded software or bloatware

    b) clean install > installs no bloatware > install default drivers using HP support assistant

    c) reset remove files

    d) reset save files

Please note that a factory reset will take you back to the version of Windows that came with your computer. If it were my computer, I would instead go direct to a fresh install of Windows 11 by following these procedures:

    First this: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/create-windows-11-bootable-usb-installation-media.750/

    Then this: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/clean-install-windows-11.99/

I would also recommend joining elevenforum.com, as you're likely to need further assistance and it's just a better place to get good guidance from friendly, knowledgeable users.

Hi Vanessa, thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today.

I understand the issue you have, there is nothing to worry I am here to help, resetting the PC will not remove the Windows 11 activation and it is totally fine to reset the PC as long as you have a backup of your files.

For your Microsoft Office, is it the Microsoft Office 365 subscription? if yes, you can download and install it by following the steps from here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/down...

Note: If you purchase Microsoft Office 2021, you need to secure the product key first, you can follow the steps from here: https://products.support.services.microsoft.com...

Let me know how it goes and I hope that helps.

    Bernard
