How can I update Windows 10 to version 22H2?

I just installed Windows 10 on my old rig that had Windows 7 on it previously. I did a reinstall since I used installation media. I activated my copy of windows over the phone and updates started rolling in. I am stuck on a "Feature update to Windows 10, version 22H2 (18)"

Last failed install attempt on ‎9/‎26/‎2023 - 0x80242016

I have attempted to install over half a dozen times and it's not working.

I have tried running the system file checker, running the troubleshooter, and using the update assistant, all to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

You must have used an old USB to install Windows 10, your version of Windows is 3 years out of date and so most attempts to upgrade to version 22H2 will fail, try this method.

Please follow the steps, this is then just an update and your personal files, settings and installed software will not be affected.

    Click this link:

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), then choose ISO, not USB

When the ISO file completes downloading

    Disconnect from the Internet

Disconnect all external devices with the exception of a mouse or keyboard.

Temporarily disable any 3rd party Anti-virus you may have installed

Then, in Windows File Explorer, double click the ISO and then run Setup.exe and select the upgrade option.

It looks like it worked! I downloaded the ISO, started the setup and left my PC because I had to go to work. When I got back, the monitor was off and the computer wouldn't wake up. I ended up powering it off by holding the power button for five seconds, then turning off the PSU and holding the power button for 30 seconds. I switched PSU back on, powered it back up, and the update resumed (albeit slowly). It didn't take too long and now I am downloading updates FOR Windows 10 Version 22H2. Hopefully that will be the last of it.

Thanks for your help! I owe you!
