Thanks Dave. You were right. I eventually got a message up saying that it was undoing my changes and after about another 40 mins it rolled back to Windows 10. Relieved that I didn’t lose any data, but now my computer is extremely slow and running at 100% disk usage. So annoyed with Microsoft and won’t be attempting the update again.
What do I do if Windows 11 update is taking hours/days?
Windows 11 update is taking hours and hours. I left it to run overnight and it’s still only at 17% almost 12 hours later. Says I cannot turn it off midway through, so how what do I do? I’m SO angry with Microsoft. I would never have upgraded if I thought it could take this long. I have a 200/200 speed internet connection, so it has nothing to do with internet speed.

If you are upgrading from Windows 10 to 11, that update should complete in 1- -2 hours, if the upgrade process has been stuck on 17% for more than a couple of hours, then most likely, that is not gong to succeed.
Do you have a backup of your personal files?
If that upgrade is not progressing past 17%, really you have no choice, the only option is to force your PC to shut down, wait a few seconds and start your PC again, the upgrade will then either progress to completion or it ay roll back

To solve the current problems, try running Disk Cleanup twice like this to remove all the update files from the attempted upgrade.
Open File Explorer
Click on your hard drive
On the Manage Tab - Disk Tools, click Cleanup
Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan
Select Everything in the list and choose Delete
Start Disk Cleanup again
Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan
Important - this time in the resulting dialog, click 'Cleanup System Files'
Let Disk Cleanup run another scan
Select Everything in the list and choose Delete
