Why won’t windows 10 let me log on with CORRECT password

I just got back from a trip and had my pc turned off all the way with the switch on the back, I come back go to log on and boom it says my password is incorrect. I’ve had this same password for 3 years now and it’s not a keyboard issue as when I click the eye button the password is correct.

My security questions are not the same either. One of them is my childhood nickname and I’ve never had a childhood nickname so I wouldn’t choose that one.

I cannot boot into safe mode for some reason as it still requires a password on my end?? I have no idea what is going on with this pc. I’d rather not clean install it as I have stuff on drive c(drive d would be fine as it’s just games)

I'm sorry that the above solution failed to help you :(

Nonetheless, you may still consider making a data backup, including but not limited to placing your hard drive on another computer to copy the data. If you don't have another computer, you can consider using USB media to create a media and copy the data directly into it. This is a way to save data directly without entering the system. To do this, see this following article:

Thank you again for your patience and understanding, and good luck!

    Hello, HoneyKit

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble logging into your Windows 10 PC. Here are a few suggestions that might help:

    1. Reboot Your PC: Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve the issue.
    2. Use Virtual Keyboard: Try typing your password using the virtual keyboard. This can help if there are issues with your physical keyboard.
    3. Change Microsoft Account Password: If you’re using a Microsoft account to sign in, you can change your password on account.live.com/password/reset using another device.
    4. Login with Administrator Account: If you have an administrator account set up, try logging in with that account.
    5. Check Caps Lock: Ensure that the Caps Lock key is not turned on.

If none of these solutions work, you might need to consider more advanced options such as:

Remove Latest Updates from Recovery Options: If the issue started after a recent update, you could try removing the update. To do this ,see this article may helps: **** Recovery options in Windows - Microsoft Support

Reset PC or Clean Install Windows 10: As a last resort, you could consider resetting your PC or doing a clean install of Windows 10. However, this should be the last option as it will erase all data on your drive. To do this, here is an instruction that might tells you how to do this: How to: Perform a Clean Install or Reinstall of Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

Please remember to back up all important data before attempting any advanced recovery options. I hope this helps! If you need further assistance, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,

    Chandy |Microsoft Community Support Specialist

I’ve done all that, that is my admin account that I am locked out of so I cannot do anything else like deleting an update or stuff like that.

I guess I’ll have to clean install but good thing all that is on my c drive is steam, and some the programs. My d drive has all photos and stuff.
