    Dear David Thilk

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are experiencing a blue screen problem with the error code "Internal Power Error". Are you currently able to access the system?

If you are currently able to access the system, then we can proceed with the following troubleshooting steps.

This error code usually indicates a problem related to power management or power state transitions in the computer. This error can occur for a variety of reasons and resolving it may require some troubleshooting.

Can you share blue screen logs with me via private message? I'll enable access to private messages for you.

Please check if there are .dmp files in the C:\Windows\Minidump directory.

    • If so, package these files, upload and share them to OneDrive, and then include the sharing link in the next response. Since these files detail exactly what happened when your system crashed, this will help us resolve your issue.
    • If not, run the following command to try to enable it. Win + Q logo key, open the search box, type "cmd", then right-click on the command prompt, select "Run as administrator") and enter the following command.
    wmic recoveros set DebugInfoType=3
    • This is necessary in order to enable blue screen logging. You need to try to access the C:\Windows\Minidump directory to see if there are .dmp files after the next blue screen appears.

Before doing so, please try the following basic troubleshooting steps. These steps may not directly solve the problem, but they can help us troubleshoot some basic situations.

    1. Check Hardware Connections:
      • Ensure that all hardware components, such as RAM modules, graphics cards, and power cables, are securely connected to your motherboard.
      • If you recently added or changed hardware, double-check that it is compatible with your system and properly seated.
    2. Update Drivers:
      • Outdated or incompatible drivers can sometimes trigger power-related errors. Update your graphics card, chipset, and other critical drivers from the manufacturer's website.
    3. Check for Overheating:
      • Overheating can cause stability issues. Make sure your computer is adequately ventilated, and the cooling system is working correctly.
      • Use software utilities to monitor CPU and GPU temperatures to ensure they are within safe ranges.
    4. Power Settings:
      • Adjust power settings in Windows to avoid aggressive power-saving modes, especially if you encounter this error when your computer goes into sleep or hibernate modes. Set it to a balanced or high-performance plan.
    5. BIOS/UEFI Update:
      • Check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your motherboard. Sometimes, manufacturers release updates to address compatibility and power management issues.

If you are currently unable to access the system. As our troubleshooting programme is based on the system, perhaps at this point we are unable to troubleshoot properly, please refer to the following programme for a fresh installation.

You can refer to the following link for a fresh installation

Please ensure that you backup any important data, including Documents, Pictures, Videos, and more.

    1. Prepare a flash driver with at least 8GB (Pay attention to backup data, because creating a boot disk will erase all data of the flash driver). Then operate it on another Windows computer.
    2. Visit Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com))and click "Download Now" to download MCT(Media Creation Tool).
    3. Run the MCT, select "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD or ISO file) for another PC”, and then choose Language, Version, Architecture(if you are not sure about these, choose "Use the recommended options for this PC"), then select "USB flash drive" in the "Select Media to Use" interface, then make a boot disk.
    4. After that, you can find instructions on how to install Windows 10/11 in the following article by MVP Andre:How to: Perform a Custom Installation of Windows 11 and Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

If there are any questions along the way, please share them with me in your reply.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!
