i removed my CD Drive but it is still showing on File explorer

Hi,

my CD Drive broke quite a while ago so I have been using an external player.

I decided to get an additional SSD for my PC and has used the power and Sata connection from the CD Drive to install the SSD.

the SSD is working fine and has been installed

However my File explorer is still showing the CD Drive (E:) and I have been unable to get rid of it.

I've been into the Device Manager and the old CD Drive is no longer visible ( I have the View Hidden Tab selected so I know it is definitely not there)

I've also tried using Diskpart but the E: Volume is not showing on there either

Any Thoughts ?

Ian

I've added a screen shot of my device manager for reference

Many Thanks Both - I've actually found the issue - PowerISO was auto labelling the C: Drive as part of it even though there was no virtual drives/disks mounted

Simply Deleted the PowerISO Software and it has dissapeared and is not in the registry either.

Now I know the cause I'm able to manage it going forward

    Many Thanks !!

Hi Ian8888_084, let me try to assist you.

You may need to access the Windows Registry, to do this:

Open Registry Editor. Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box. Type regedit and press Enter.

    Navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons

In the right pane, look for the value that corresponds to the drive that you want to remove. The value name will be the drive letter, such as C: or D:.

Right-click on the value and select Delete.

Close Registry Editor and restart your computer.

I hope this helps. Let me know if the problem still persist, don't hesitate to ask for further assistance.

    Regards,

    Arnel

Acknowledged from another expert, thank you for that. It the does not exist in HKCU but instead in HKLM

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons
