The cpu (and lack of TPM 2) is only one issue. There would be no dedicated Win11 drivers for your laptops motherboard and this could lead

to problems with performance and stability. Best to stick with the OS that is contemporary with your machines hardware

(Win7\10 with 4th gen Intel). A forced 'upgrade' is possible, but not really worth the effort. I reckon Win10 is the better OS anyway.

btw - One of our machines is a 4th gen Intel (i7 4970) desktop machine, but it is staying with Win10

because Win11 would effectively be a downgrade.

Very doubtful Monopoly$oft will make Win11 more backward compatible. Word is they are already working on Win12.

According to rumor far enough along to be released late 2024.

    Hello Khizer,

Good day! I'm John and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.

I'm sorry, i5 4th gen is not on the list of Windows 11 supported Intel processors.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardwa...

The minimum system requirements for Windows 11 are at least 8th Gen processors (except for very few 7th Gen processors). This is to meet Microsoft principles about security and reliability.

    https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2021/...

There has been no new announcement from Microsoft yet if they plan to add more processors to the list. You may need to consider using Windows 10 as it continues to be a great version of Windows. Microsoft is committed to supporting Windows 10 until October 14, 2025.

Stay safe and have a great weekend.

    Kind regards,

    John DeV

I know someone who is beta-testing Winos 12, and in his own words: "MickeySucks hasn't even fixed all known bugs in Win10, much less Win11. Winos 12 is another stumbling descension into the Bowels Of Hell".

My own personal experience & recommendations? Go with Linux.
