Hi, I'm using windows 11 version 22H2. I noticed this weird icon for efficiency mode in the task manager. It is different from the official screenshots of from microsoft. Mine only looks like a square or a box. I restarted several times but still no changes. Maybe someone can help. Thanks.

Solution For Blank Squares in Taskbar, Task Manager etc. (NOT FOR DESKTOP ICONS- FOR DESKTOP ICONS RELATED YOU HAVE TO REBUILD ICON CACHE)

Boot a Live OS, Copy All the Segoe Fonts from C:\Windows\Fonts and then copy it to C:\Users"YOUR USERNAME HERE"\APPDATA\LOCAL\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\FONTS and Problem Solved. The versions of those fonts will be different.

TRUST ME YOU CANNOT COPY THESE FONTS WHILE USING WINDOWS AS IT WILL SHOW AN ERROR STATING FILE IN USE.

SO LIVE OS (Use Lubuntu or any linux or second os/ OR CONNECT YOUR HARD DISK TO ANOTHER PC TO DO COPY/ OR USE CMD IN RECOVERY MODE TO COPY- ADVANCED) IS BEST UNLESS YOU ARE A NERD AND YOU GOT PLENTY OF TIME.

    Kudos,

    Hi bac0nzzz

That green square is caused by font corruption in Winnows 11

The icons in Windows are created from one of the Segoe font family

If you have access to another Windows 11 PC, in File Explorer, go to C:Windows\Fonts and search for Segoe

Wait for that list to build, then copy all the Segoe fonts out to a USB

Then on your PC, copy those Segoe fonts into your C:Windows\Fonts folder and restart your PC

    Hi bac0nzzz,

I'm Paul and I'm here to help you with your concern.

Yes, there should be an efficiency mode and a suspended icon.

I will recommend that you install the latest Windows Updates.

Also, use System File Checker to check and fix corrupted system files that may be the cause of the issue. Please refer to the link.
