Usually, it is not necessary to install monitor/display drivers. Only have your graphics drivers updated.
But if your new display came with a DVD with the driver, you can install it just in case. Or you can download the driver from the support area of the monitor manufacturer's website.
It's normal for the screen to look strange when changing displays. It's happened to me several times. This often occurs due to differences in the technology used on the new screen.
