It is actually possible using Windows Fax & Scan with a little more effort, it took me a while to find this. I do not have access to install additional software on my work laptop hence I needed to do this with the standard tools in Windows.

    The process is

    1. Use Fax & Scan to scan your pages as separate images, as normal.
    2. Ensure you name them so they will appear in the correct order eg Page1.jpg Page2.jpg etc
    3. Find the files in Documents/Scanned Documents folder.
    4. Select the ones you want in your PDF - check they are in the right order for the pages you want.
    5. Right click the image you want as the first page - this is important as it tells Windows which page to start on. The other pages will be selected based on the order shown in File Explorer.
    6. Click Print from the menu then select Microsoft Print to PDF option.
    7. You may need to change the settings eg Landscape to Portrait before you click Print.

This process produces a single PDF from the multiple image files produced by Fax & Scan.

    Hi Shari

The Windows Fax and Scan software is very basic, does not have the capability to scan a multi-page document or to produce a document from multiple scans, it is just a basic app for scanning an image, it also does not have the ability to scan a text document in an editable format.

This is an old thread but I discovered I can scan multiple pages into one document by changing the 'Profile' on the scan menu that pops up. The default is 'photo' and when I switched it to 'documents' it asks you to put your pages in the document feeder (the one usually used for fax) and hit scan. It then scans all the pages into one 'page'. So guess on the format you need, it may serve your purpose and save time!

On a separate thread, someone recommended an open source program named NAPS2 https://www.naps2.com/

I downloaded it and it worked perfectly with my HP flatbed scanner for creating one pdf doc from multiple scanned pages.

Thanks Dave, at last someone to give a straight answer. Can you recommend a simple scanning program that will allow me to scan multiple pages into one pdf?

    Many thanks

    Daniel
