Removing the only (administrator) account on this laptop

I have looked at previous solutions on here with no success. I only have the one microsoft account on my old laptop, and I’d like to remove it. But my account is the administrator. I’ve tried looking up how to remove my account as the administrator but there has been no luck. And due to this I don’t think it allows the option to remove my account. I can’t change it to standard as it doesn’t let me (it isn’t selectable). Does anyone know how to fix this as I have no options anywhere (account settings, control panel) to remove this account

    1

Open the Settings App, then go to Accounts - Your Info.

On that page, there should be one of two options available, either the option to 'Switch to a local Account' or the option to 'Stop automatically logging into apps with this account'

Whichever of those options appear, select that option to remove your Microsoft Account from the user profile.

If your ultimate goal is to reset Windows completely, then you really do not need to perform those steps, just start the reset and select the option to keep nothing, that will remove your account and all your data from the laptop.

You can also select the option to 'Clean the drives' during the reset, that would securely delete all data from the drive, but if you have a big drive, that process can take a long time.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Please do not change that account to a standard account you will loose the ability to make any meaningful changes on the laptop.

What do you want to do on that laptop, do you want to remove the current user account and create a new user account on the laptop, or do you just want to remove your Microsoft Account from the current user profile on the laptop?

simply create another account on the computer (something temporary for a user and password) make that account an administrator...

log into that account and delete your account... done!

    Hi,

I want to remove my Microsoft Account from the current user profile on the laptop. I intend to reset the laptop completely, with no accounts.

    Thank you

    Hi,

I did try with a local user and that didn’t do anything, so I’ll try and figure out creating a new proper account! Thank you
