"a media driver your computer needs is missing" on windows install, despite having media drivers?

Windows 11 installation issue Hello, I am running into a lot of issues trying to install from a bootable usb, regarding the error message where you need to install media drivers. I've had similar issues in the past and fixed them (related to the VMD drivers for 11th gen intel cards), but it's never been this impossible to solve.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Boot bootable windows 11 installation process from the official bootable file found on microsofts website
  2. Carry on with the installation process until you're faced with the error message "a media driver your computer needs is missing"

Now, from my previous experience installing windows, I've had to also install the intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers; and so

  1. Attempt to re-install the proper VMD, and non-VMD drivers from https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19512/intel-rapid-storage-technology-driver-installation-software-with-intel-optane-memory-10th-and-11th-gen-platforms.html
  2. Launch the drivers, now I've tried all variations of the extracted drivers from intels website, still nothing works. I get the same errors

This has always worked in in the past, but I can not for the life of me figure out why I get this issue now

THis is what happens

  • Error message repeats, and says that no missing drivers were found

https://imgur.com/a/ZJRkLPb Things I have already tried

  • Put the driver files on the same usb as the bootable disk
  • Attempted the same process both for intel's drivers on the 10-11th gen cards and the iRST drivers for 11th gen and up cards.
  • Disable VMD functionality in bios, disabled secure boot vice-versa.

Hello, these steps have been attempted without succes. Not step four though, as I do not have an OS on my system. For some reason linux-based distros work fine, but not this.

As for onverting to sata/ide (assumedly through a converter) is not possible nor feasible on my laptop.

I looked through all of the options

Way 1 did not work despite how much I tried, I tried with USB hubs and through my only usb 3.0 hub. Can't do much about it.

Way 2: I can't even set my partition as active, as the partitions that were visible, were not a part of my main drive. The only partitions I saw in that menu were the ones where I had the bootable usb stick.

Way 3: Yeh, I tried that several times sadly. No matter what ISO and bootable disk I make, with whatever tool -- it hasn't work

5: My bioes doesn't seem to have a legacy order nor does it have xHCI hand-offs in bios

    I'm out of ideas

    Okay

This error that no device drivers were found Windows 10 means that the drivers on the installation media are either missing or corrupt.

So, in the following section, i will show you how to solve the error that no signed device drivers were found.

    Way 1. Change USB Port

If you come across the error that no device drivers were found, you can choose to change the USB port first. If you have plugged the USB installation media into a USB 3.0 port on your computer, you can try switching it to USB 2.0 port.

After that, reinstall the operating system and check whether the error that no device drivers were found is fixed.

Way 2. Set Partition as Active

Setting the partition where you want to install Windows to as active may also help you to fix the error that no device drivers were found Windows 7/8/10.

So, here, we will show you how to set partition as active to fix this problem. Now, here is the tutorial.

    1. Boot the computer you want to install the operating system.
    2. Then select the language, time and keyboard input.
    3. Next, choose Repair your computer.
    4. Then Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.
    5. Then type the following commands and hit Enter after each command.

    diskpart

    list volume

select volume X (X stands for the partition drive letter where you want to install OS.)

    active

After that, reboot your computer and check whether the error that no device drivers were found Windows 10 is fixed.

Way 3. Create a New Disc

In order to fix the error that no signed device drivers were found, you can try creating a new disc.

    Now, here is the tutorial.

    1. Download Windows Media Creation Tool from its website.
    2. Then run it on your computer.
    3. Then follow the on-screen instructions and choose Create installation media for another PC.

Then choose language, architecture and edition to continue.

    1. Then you can choose to create a USB installation drive or an ISO file. If you choose ISO file, you can also mount it to the USB, CD or DVD.

After that, connect it to the computer to install the operating system and check whether the error that no signed device drivers were found Windows 7 is fixed.

Way 4. Enable xHCI Hand-Off Options in BIOS

The xHCI hand-off option is quite debatable and there are quite a few representations of what exactly does it to. In general, when disabled, it lest BIOS manage USB devices and ports. However, when enabled, the operating system manages it.

So, to fix the error that no signed device drivers were found, some users choose to enable it and it is effective. Hence, you can try it, too.

    Now, here is the tutorial.

Boot your computer to enter BIOS.

Then go to the Advanced The settings are called BIOS xHCI Hand-Off or BIOS EHCI Hand-Off.

    Then enable it.

After that, save the changes and exit the BIOS settings. Then check whether the issue that no device drivers were found Windows 10 is fixed.

Way 5. Change Everything to Legacy and Change Boot Order

The last way you can try to fix the error that no signed device drivers were found is to change everything to legacy and set the boot drive to USB or CD/DVD.

    Now, here is the tutorial.

    Boot your computer into BIOS.

Then navigate to the Security tab.

Expand it and choose Secure Boot Configuration and hit Enter.

Then press F10 to save the changes.

Use the down arrow to select Secure Boot and use the right arrow key to modify the settings to Disable.

The locate the Legacy Support and set it to Enable.

Then change the boot order and set the USB drive or CD/DVD as the first boot.

After that, reboot your computer and check whether the error that no signed device drivers were found is fixed.

    Thanks again for your help

It seems like a persistent issue. Have you tried using a different USB port for the installation? This might help resolve the driver recognition problem
