Is the Microsoft folder under Windows C/Program files able to be deleted?

My laptop regualarly seem"s to be running out of storage; just ran "Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup" AND /ResetBase" and I now have a comfortable 2GB's showing as available but from recent experience this may show as half that tomorrow without anything added or deleted. The LCU folder which was meant to be reduced seems to be the same size but there are various warnings about deleting it - none with any information as to why not (apart from not being able to use a restore point or remove a prev. update which aren't issues for me). The subject looks like a contender to create space as it shows as about 1.8 GB and it seems to be Edge and related files only (based on the one line of info availble when the mouse hovers over it). Is it safe to delete and or is more likely to disappear than just the Edge Browser?

They have blocked the methods to uninstall Ede form Windows, because a lot of other functionality in Windows relies on it, i really cannot advise you to uninstall Edge or Edge WebView2, either can have unforeseen consequences.

it is a pity TreeSize do not make a 32it version, then I could advise you if it is possible to safely gain more space on your drive.

OK thanks; one day I might attempt to find out whether Edge can largely synch. with Chrome on my other devices and thus I can uninstall Chrome on the laptop.

Updates seem to occur smoothly; I think 32 GB would be a good size for children in order to learn how to be disicplined in storing etc. 3.2 GB today and my question remains but I'll elaborate. Would deleting "Edge", "EdgeCore" and "EdgeUpdates" under "Windows (C:)/Microsoft/Program Files" be likely to produce any unintended consequences? I asked Chat GPT and Bing's chat (BC) and got somewhat vague answers about possible problems but it did indicate that usung a Cmd line should just remove the browser however about 10 attempts - trying to work out what the Cmd line was e.g. retaining the Brackets; including the whole line of Edge's version no. - 32bit .....etc mostly resulted in "C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".

This was the line "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\116.0.19116.0.1938.76\Installer\setup.exe --uninstall --force-uninstall --system-level" BC indicated that including the quotation marks was required; using that line resulted in no apparent outcome i.e. no error or any message so it looks like I'm stuck with 1.3GB of Edge because maybe a couple of hundred MB's are required for other processes - unless you have any further useful information.

    Sorry, I was offline.

I understand now, on those laptops with a 32GB eMMC chip as storage, there will never be enough room to perform Windows updates, I do not know why the laptop manufacturers produced them, the minimum storage required for Windows is 64GB, because Windows by itself can use up to 25GB of storage, but you have done the right thing installing the 32GB version of Windows on the laptop, but space will always be hard to find on that device.

32 GB. Lenovo 100S IBY. Had 3.99 GB free showing today which is a very comfortable buffer (3.63 having deleted some photos from the bin!). With only "Chrome" a few small data apps. and about 200 MB of files however there does seem to be a few GB of the 28 GB usable which is unaccounted for.
