Hello, I have a question.

I have seen that Windows 11 has a new repair function via Windows update but do I still need an USB if for example something really bad happens?

    Hello,

The new repair function is basically the same repair install (aka: in-place upgrade), but the image file is just downloaded via Windows Update instead of using an ISO or USB.

I would always recommend having an updated Windows 11 installation USB handy in case you may need to boot from it or clean install Windows 11.

    Hi ,

Sabya here, Independent Windows Adviser. Hope you are doing well.

Yes you will still need an usb if something bad happens as USB has fresh windows files. The repair in Windows OS takes repair files from the system in C drive. So if they are corrupted you will need a bootable USB of Windows to fix them.
