Why is my resolution capped at 1024 x 768?

So recently my computer's resolution rather mysteriously dropped from the usual 1920 x 1080 to the aforementioned 1024 x 768 and when I went to change back in the display settings I could only downgrade to 800 x 600. I have used my computer same as always, played games, watched series and written my assignments for college, and I haven't really run any very demanding applications.

I am using Windows Home 64 Bit, I have a Intel i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz processor a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER graphics card, and a 1920 x 1080 60hz HP monitor using HDMI.

I have tried to update my graphics drivers and scale them back. When I ran Intel's "Driver and Support Assistance" I could see that my gpu for some reason was capped at 1024 x 768, so I am guessing, without really knowing that much about this sort of thing, that it is an gpu related issue? Is there any way to fix this, or am I wrong about the cause of the issue?

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give.

HI, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

it is the graphics drivers that tell Windows what resolutions are supported on the monitor, so it is definitely the drivers causing this.

Open Device Manager, then expand the Display Adapters section, please provide a screenshot of that window.

Well yeah now I can pick 1920x1080 in the options, but the image comes out blurry, as if the monitor only is 1024x768. When I go see the system information for the monitor it also only lists itself as 1024x768. Thing is though I looked the product number up and confirmed that it is indeed 1920x1080.

Okay, I think I've found the issue. The problem is my monitor. For some reason it uses a generic driver from 2006, instead of the specialised version, which HP has created for it. Windows won't let me use the other driver instead. It should be using the one called "HP_24uh_win10.inf" Do you know any solution for this?

    Thank you for the screenshot

Your Intel i5-7400 CPU has Intel HD Graphics 630 on the processor, and there is no driver for that installed.

Have you disabled the Intel graphics in your BIOS or in the Nvidia Control Panel?
