My current PC is running on a purchased retail version of Windows 11 Pro. Recently i purchased from the MS Store the upgrade for windows 10/11 Pro for Workstations. The purchased is completed successfully and is being reflected on my MS Account online. But till today more than a week later i have no instructions of how to activate this upgrade from Windows 11 Pro to Windows 11 Pro for Workstation. I am deeply disturbed that despite calling you customer services and technical support non can render me a clear direction to resolve this upgrade issue which should have been documented easily for upgrading.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Important - disconnect totally from the Internet

Open the Settings App (Gear icon on your Starr Menu)

Go to Update and Security - Activation

    Click Change Product key

Enter this generic product key: DXG7C-N36C4-C4HTG-X4T3X-2YV77

    When prompted, click 'Activate Product'

If the above does not work first time, restart your PC and try again.

Note the generic key will cause the Pro edition to upgrade to the Pro for Workstations edition, then your own legal licence will activate automatically after you restart (not shut down) your PC

Thanks Dave !!!! absolutely fantastic ! may i just add on restart connect back the network/internet.

I was wondering what the heck the rest of the MS team support and technical people are doing - total waste of my time and effort what would have taken 5 minutes dragged on for 2 freaking days and those people simply cut and paste "solutions" i dont meant to be mean but heck paid for actual license and the least i expect is some support.

To begin with MS Windows have bad instructions on what to do after upgrade. Just some more information. I did use a generic key for workstation and it worked but somehow it dropped back to my previous license.

Anyway the trick to unplug from network did the Job, thanks again Dave you made my day !
