Hello,

I have been getting the above message after a recent hardware change.

I have gone through all support options online and have requested multiple callbacks from support.

After three (3) callback requests and multiple responses for them to please help me out, I have still not had anyone from support return my request.

I upgraded from Windows 7 for free years ago, therefore I have a digital license. Still using the same computer and now its telling me to activate windows, but I can't.

Please help me!

Thank you.

    Hi, G_Snyder,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

Error code 0xc004f213 indicates that no product key was found on your computer. You can use this procedure to reset the Windows activation components and add a generic key, this procedure will force the activation troubleshooter to search for the Windows license in your Microsoft account.

Step 1: Run these commands to add a generic key

1-Right-click on the Start then click on Windows Powershell(admin)

    2-Run these commands:

    SLMGR.VBS /CPKY and press

    SLMGR.VBS /CKMS and press enter

Net stop Sppsvc and press enter

    CD C:\Windows\System32\SPP\Store\2.0 and press enter

Ren Tokens.dat Tokens.old and press enter

    SLMGR.VBS /RILC end press enter

    changepk.exe /ProductKey XXXXX-XXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX and press enter

    3-Reboot your PC

Note: Replace XXXXX with one of the following keys depending on the version of your Windows license.

    Windows 10 Home - YTMG3-N6DKC-DKB77-7M9GH-8HVX7

    Windows 10 Pro - VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

    Step 2:Reset Windows Update components

1-Right-Click on Start then click on Windows PowerShell(admin)

    2-Type these commands:

net stop wuauserv (and press Enter)

net stop cryptSvc (and press Enter)

net stop bits (and press Enter)

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old (and press Enter)

ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old (and press Enter)

net start wuauserv (and press Enter)

net start cryptSvc (and press Enter)

net start bits (and press Enter)

netsh winsock reset (and press Enter)

    3-Reboot your PC

4-Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security and make sure all available updates are installed

Step 3: Run the Activation Troubleshooter

1-Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Troubleshoot . The troubleshooter will show Windows can’t be activated on your device.

2-Select "I changed hardware on this device recently", then select Next.

3-Enter your connected Microsoft account and password, then select Sign in. The troubleshooter will only work with the connected Microsoft account.

4-From the list of devices that are linked to your Microsoft account, select the check box next to This is the device I’m using right now.

    5-Select Activate.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be glad to assist you further.

I saw some users with the same problem this week "We cannot activate Windows on this device. Try again later", it could be a problem with the activation servers, you can wait a few more days to see if the Windows will be activated automatically.

If the problem persists, you can contact a Microsoft support agent on the "Contact Us" page, they will be able to check if there are any problems with your Windows license.

1-Access the Microsoft contact us at this link.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus

2-Click on Windows and then click on "Get Home support"

3-Write a brief description of your request or issue in the box then click the "Get Help" button.

4-Click on the "Contact Support" button located at the bottom of the page. If you are not logged in, you will see "Sign in to Contact Support". Log in to your Microsoft account.

5-Select your Product or Service. Choose a Category then click Confirm

    6-Lastly, choose a support option

Thank you very much for the reply.

I went through all these steps and tried re-activation with new hardware.

When I go to select my device, it is not there. The only one I can pick is from my Surface.

On my Microsoft account, the PC I am using in linked online, however. I am logged into that PC with my Microsoft account as well.
