Why my Surface Pro i7-7660U CPU can not upgrade to Windows 11?

I bought the top of the range Surface Laptop i7 couple years ago. When I run the PC Health Check, it says my laptop is not compatible? With 16GB memory and Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7660U CPU @ 2.50GHz how come it is not compatible.

What's going on here? an old Microsoft employee.

This is not possible. I bought my Surface 7 three years ago with the core i-7-7660U CPU @ 2.5GHz processor as the high-end device at the time. Something is not right here?

Why would Microsoft develop an OS (Windows 11) that is not compatible with a high end Microsoft computer? My device also has an Intel R Core i7-7660 CPU @ 2.5 GHz, 2496 MHz, 2 Cores 4 logical processors. I am really disappointed as I opted to buy the most expensive Microsoft device expecting it to be reasonably future proof, certainly capable of working with new software. Surely Windows 11 can be developed to work with relatively new systems that, after all, were supplied by Microsoft.

RobG. I'm finding EVERY SINGLE TIME, and I really mean EVERY SINGLE TIME I try and do ANYTHING with msft software or hardware there's and issue.

You're right, I bought what I thought was a high end Surface, I guess not ghigh end enough. Should've gone with another company. I sure as !@$@ will in futute. I'm aactually working on extracating myself from ALL THINGS MICROSOFT.

RNothing is ever completed. I use SharePoint online via a msft 365 (note the small caps use of msft as an intentional bit of disrespect) and typical, standard, every day functionality one expectes going on 20222 (well even this was an issue going on 2000) doesn't work.

There are lookup fields you can use, but you can't filter on them and you can't sort on them either. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????? WHAT?????????????????????????

Doesnt make sense. Yet an Intel Core i3-1000G1 is compatible according to Microsoft?????????????? Why am I not surprised my Surface Pro 5 with the i7-7660U is not supported. It seems all <>7660 are but SURPRISE 7660 is not. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Why did I even bother wasting my time to check, should've known there'd be a GOTCHA.

We need Microsoft to tell us why this system is not supported.
This is a major issue as it was the best system 4 years ago

Hello,

Unfortunately, i7-7660U processor is not compatible for Windows 11, according to Microsoft.

Hi there,

Have you tried the latest PC Health Check app?
If not get it from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11-specifications

Only 8th generation processors are supported for Windows 11. This is been specified by the PC manufacturers for improved security and performance. It seems 7660U is not in the list .
