Settings app freezes when trying to open Lockscreen or backgroup settings in Personalization tab (W11)

As the title states, the settings app does not respond when I try to open the lock screen settings or the background settings. The other tabs work, the other settings accessible in the personalization section work as well. I tried checking for updates, restarting computer and restarting windows explorer (was from another post)

    Hi OlafKJ,

    I'm Christine, a Windows user like you. I can see here that your Settings app freezes when you're trying to open the Lockscreen or background. No worries,I'll do my best to help you.

    May I know when did the issue start? Is there any changes made?

    Please check and follow the steps below:

    1. Repair Settings

    Please click Start Menu and type Powershell, right click on it and choose Powershell(admin), copy and paste the command below and hit enter.

    Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    Once the process is finished, restart the PC and check if the issue still persists.

    1. Please try to run the sfc scannow to check if there's a corrupted system file. Kindly follow the steps from the link below:

    Please click start menu and type cmd, right click on it and choose CMD with Admin.

    Type sfc /scannow and hit enter. NOTE: There's a space between c and /

    Thank you,

    Dear Christine,

    It started when I had updated my windows yesterday (version KB5030219) and(KB5031217)).

    However, the first tip you gave worked, thank you for that!! Just out of curiosity, what does it do exactly?

    Best of wishes and many thanks,

    Olaf
