I also have the same problem. Model XD013 7-IN-1 multi-function external optical drive. I have a Windows 11 HP laptop.

    1. Connected the drive directly to a USB port on the laptop
    2. Tried different USB ports
    3. Tried plugging in the drive then restarting the laptop
    4. I'm using the cable that was provided with the drive

Is there a driver that can be separately downloaded to get the laptop to recognize the drive?

I purchased it on Amazon. Here is its description on the Amazon page:

External CD/DVD Drive for Laptop, 7 in 1 USB 3.0 DVD Player Portable CD/DVD Burner, CD ROM External DVD Drive for Laptop Compatible with Laptop Desktop PC Windows 11/10/8/7 Linux Mac OS (Jet Black)

My father had same problem, he conected with the front usb cable and doesnt work. You have to conect it with the usb cable that is under the unit. I connect this way and now is working with window 11.

I think I have the same drive and am having like issues.

BACKGROUND: I purchased my device from TEMU (don't laugh). It is described exactly as yours is above. I plugged it it in and it WAS working flawlessly. I was ripping my CD library to my MP3 player when it stopped working after several successful rips. Basically it just STOPPED reading or evening spinning up. Light and eject seemed to work as did the USB pass-through. I don't recall if I was using the additional power cable or not but my laptop was on AC power and not battery.

PRESENT DAY: I have managed to revive the drive, It is working as before with no issues. I recalled seeing either in the package insert or the first time using the device that there is a REQUIREMENT to select a region otherwise the device would not operate.

Since the device was not working, I began to play with some setting and tried to do some testing. It seems for me the only thing I needed to so was to officially select a region and allow the device to hardcode that region into its firmware. This seems to "unlock" the disc and bring it back to working order. The disc arrived with NO REGION set and I wanted to leave it that way, however, it seems to be designed such that you MUST select a region after some period has elapsed. After this step I still have 4 changes left.

Hope this solves you problem too

    R

    Hello Leticia

    My name is Dayarys.

Do you know if the external optical drive is compatible with Windows 11 or does it have any drivers for your computer?

What is the model and manufacturer?

    Sincerely Dayarys
