    Hello Gamer,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

On many laptops with dual batteries like the Lenovo T480, the system is designed to prioritize using the primary battery (battery 1) first before utilizing the secondary battery (battery 2). This behavior is by design, and it serves a specific purpose. Visit ThinkPad_T480_Spec.PDF (lenovo.com) for more details.

The primary battery is typically the internal battery, which is usually smaller and less powerful than the secondary battery, which is usually a removable external battery. The reason for this design is to prolong the life of the internal battery. Since the internal battery is not easily replaceable by the user and may require professional service to replace, it makes sense to use it first to minimize wear and tear.

Using the secondary battery first would mean that the internal battery remains charged and unused for longer periods, potentially causing it to degrade faster due to the lack of regular discharge and recharge cycles.

Unfortunately, there may not be a straightforward way to reverse this order in most laptops because it's a hardware and firmware design choice. However, you can check your laptop's power management settings or Lenovo's Power Manager software to see if there are any options related to battery priority. Keep in mind that changing this behavior might affect the longevity of your internal battery. If you do decide to make changes, be sure to monitor the health of both batteries regularly.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
