Getting Event 10010 Errors since update of Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay, MS Store, KB5031445 & KB5031904 and on Oct.27th

Well it seems MS has blessed us with another error. I have an HP Omen Desktop and my wife has an HP Envy

Laptop and both are running Win 10 home with version 22H2 Build 19045.3636. We keep getting DistributedCOM Event 10010 Errors that say "The server Windows.Gaming.Gamebar.PresenceServer.Internal.PresenceWriter did not

register with DCOM within the required timeout"  This happens every time we open a game as simple as Solitaire or Mahjong etc.etc.. This started happening after 9NZKPSTSNW4P-Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay, MS Store and the last MS update of KB5031445 and KB5031904 was downloaded and installed on the 27th. My neighbors computers are posting the same error as well as my son's and grandson's computers in Colorado. Please look into this for a fix as this is clearly a bug since it is happening on more than one computer.

Regards,

Don

    Any news on this?

Just started happening after the monthly patch Tuesday. It's caused by svchost.exe with username "network service". Games no longer activate the GameBar Presence Writer process. Instead, I see the aforementioned error 10010 in event viewer.

And I don't even have your KB updates. I received KB5032189, KB5032005, and Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.3684. I tried enabling the game bar and it does work in-game, but that doesn't stop the error report. Should I try to reset this Xbox Game Bar app or uninstall these recent updates?

PS: My Microsoft Store is also completely borked now which might be related. "Unknown layout specified in manifest".

You can try as I have done all I can do. It is up to the Devs to get this fixed but i do not foresee them doing it. I just will not play the games anymore. It is bad that you cannot even open Solitaire without generating an error. All i can say is flood the Feedback Hub with complaints.

    Don

Just stop opening Event Viewer. There are hundreds of errors in this log every day, check each folder yourself. Enjoy the games and don't pay attention, stop searching and trying to fix every error that doesn't affect anything

Now why would I want to stop opening the Event Viewer as it is my computer and i like to see what is going on with my system. Your Event Viewer may have hundreds of errors but mine has very few if any of them after each session and when I see a new one like this pop up in my Systems Log it peaks my interest and I investigate it and this one I had never see before. MS needs to get this fixed as it was their updates that caused this needless error. Putting Xbox on computers was the worse move MS could have ever done.

Same issue here on Windows 10. Hope they fix it soon. I have everything related to gamebar disabled but I did not mess with the registry as others are suggesting related to Event 10010. This should be fixed by Microsoft.

David I really appreciate the above reply but like I said this is also happening not only on my computer, but my wife's computer, and my neighbors computer and I also just called my son in Erie, Colorado and since he has PhD.'s on Mech. Engineering and Physics he tested his work computers, his wife's and my grandsons computer and they are doing they are posting the same DCOM errors in event viewer. I just do not feel that I need to do your procedure as it is clearly a MS problem that they need to fix. I strongly feel this needs to be sent up to next level Devs. to look at and get it corrected. I really and truly thank you for your help.

    Respectfully,

    Don

Hello DonT5, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today. I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. The Event 10010 error typically occurs when the server fails to register with the Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) within the required timeout. Here are some steps you could follow to solve the problem: Enable Feature Discovery Resource Publishing Service: Press Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog. Type services.msc and press Enter. In the Services window, find and select the “Function Discovery Resource Publishing” service. Double-click the entry to edit its properties. In the properties window, select “Automatic (delayed)” from the Startup type drop-down menu. Click Apply > OK to save the changes. Restart your PC to apply the changes. Edit component services: Press Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog. Type dcomcnfg and press Enter. In the Component Services window, double-click Computers, then right-click My Computer and select Properties. Navigate to the COM Security tab. In the Access Permissions section, click Edit Default. Modify access permissions as necessary, ensuring that the appropriate users or groups have the necessary permissions. Click OK to save the changes and close the window. Verify the integrity of system files: You can use the System File Checker (SFC) tool to repair corrupted or missing files. Install the latest Windows update: Go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. Install any available updates and restart your computer. Best regards.

Thank you David for your reply but I have already done everything that you have mentioned but I double checked everything again and I ran SFC again and no errors seen. It has to be with an update from the 27th as it did not start until after I installed my MS updates and the MS Store updates with included Game Bar app update which I feel has a bug. I filed a bug report in the FeedBack Hub but like everyone else that does that I will never hear from them. I wonder how many other people are getting these errors and just do not know it. The only games I play are Mahjong and Solitaire and the only XBox App I have is Game Bar and I do not even use it. I did delete Game Bar using CCleaner but it had no effect on the error. I wish I could just wipe anything XBox from my computers. Anyways the error does not have any effect on my desktop or my wife's laptop nor does it even record in the Reliability History Graph. I wish the Devs would change it to a Warning instead of an Error. Thanks again for your time,

    Regards,

    Don
