Hi Melice,

From the admin Command Prompt, run

  • chkdsk c: /r

Type Y and press "Enter" if a prompt asks you to run the CHKDSK utility the next time your PC restarts.

Reboot Windows and let chkdsk perform the scan/repairs.

Some suggestions:

  1. Inspect the chkdsk results via the Event Viewer. How to check chkdsk scan result after reboot.
  2. Check the HDD/SSD health using CrystalDiskInfo.

If you wish to do a clean installation after backing up the data, here is a nice tutorial.

You're welcome. I store my files on OneDrive and copy #3 is on an external drive which is always connected to the PC and synced using Robocopy on a daily basis.

    I've already done it before.

For some reason, Windows tries to do it again every 4-5th boot.

Things escalated right now, Windows was stuck at the booting screen, nothing else than the windows logo, rarely just a black screen.

It only boots up after 30 tries and 5 hours of worrying.

I believe I have to switch Operating Systems or clean reinstall Windows.

(I can't choose between Windows or Ubuntu.)

If I haven't told before: I have Windows 10 PRO.
Index number 6 as I remember.
