Of all the changes from Windows 10 To Windows 11, the elimination of the "Alt + Tab" toggle between current window to last window is a MAJOR dissatisfier for me.
Very useful tool, but I don't hold hope that Microsoft will bring it back.

Hi all,
One of the most useful shortcuts I use all the time is not working for me on my new laptop with Windows 11. I used to use ALT + TAB to switch between the current window and the last window I used. Now if I use it it switches between the current window and the first open window (not the most recent). How can I get it so it switches between the two most recently used?

i have the same problem and the same complaint. Why did Microsoft change such a basic behavior that has been with us for literally decades?
Hi Andrey
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately in multitasking I don't have "Alt + Tab" as an option.
I have
Snap Windows
Show tabs from apps when snapping or pressing Alt Tab
Desktops
Title Bar window shake
Under "Show tabs from apps when snapping or pressing Alt + Tab" click on "Don't Show Tabs". you can still hold alt and tab to see all the windows you have open, but pressing alt+tab takes you to your last open window just like on windows 10. Idk why this feature is disabled by default.
I have the same problem. The option mentioned is gone. I have reported this to Microsoft feedback under the same title –
"Alt + tab no longer switches to last window in Windows 11"
