Why is my computer screen black but I can still see my cursor?

So, a couple days ago I was playing a game on my laptop, and then my computer was frozen for a couple minutes, so I pressed the power button and closed it. I pressed it again and turned it on, and I signed in like normal. After I signed in, the computer screen was black. I could still see my cursor, but everything was black. I've tried pressing windows key + p, windows key + ctrl + shift + b, I've tried pressing ctrl + alt + DEL and hold shift while I press the restart button, but when I press the button to get to the restart button, it says "failed to display security options" and such. I believe my laptop is a hp omen gaming laptop. It'd be very much appreciated if you helped me.

Thanks

    Hi minty_690, I will try to help you solve this problem together!

    Notice that you've tried a few things, but haven't solved the problem yet. Please try the following again:

    1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to call out the Task Manager;
    2. Click Task Manager;
    3. Click [Details] to check whether there is [explorer.exe] below. If there is, right-click and select [end task];
    4. Click File-Run New Task, enter explorer.exe and click OK.

    If you can display the desktop, it is recommended to backup your personal files and then go to the advanced options to repair the system.

    Hope the above advice helps you! If not resolved, please click "Reply" to feed back relevant information and pictures

    Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    On that blue screen with the options in the recovery environment, try the Startup Repair option, if that is not successful, then try the System Restore option to revert your system to a point in time before this problem started.

    Okay, so I installed the installation media onto a flash drive, and I put it in my laptop. Now I'm at a screen that says "install now" or "repair your computer". When I press repair you computer, it brings me to a blue screen with a bunch of different options. What should I do?

    Feedback received!

    It is recommended to make a U disk installation medium on another normal computer, start the laptop with the U disk, and choose to repair the computer. Please refer to the following links for instructions on making USB flash drive installation media. The links are as follows:

    Sorry, I forgot to mention that I can't see the task manager when I open it. Is there anything else I can try?

    Thanks
