After Windows 11 update Quick Access has disappeared from File Explorer

I ran the most recent Windows 11 update yesterday. Today, when I opened my File Explorer app, the Home Screen looked completely different. Quick Access has disappeared (along with my carefully arranged folders), and what's showing on the screen is "Recommended" (totally blank underneath) and "Favorites" (some random list of DVDs). I tried System Restore, which didn't work because something got removed in yesterday's update. Also tried repairing the Office app, which did nothing. I don't understand how an update can go into my personal files and folders and change my arrangement. That's extremely disturbing. I'd appreciate any ideas about how to fix this without having to painstakingly recreate my Quick Access list by hand.

In Folder Options (, Options), General tab, under Privacy, if you have a Show recommended section, uncheck it.

This seems to bring back Quick Access for most people.

I have the same problem! All I see on the "Home" selections is as below.

It is not possible to PIN anything to Home nor see connected drives, computers etc. The "pin to Quick Access" command is still available, but Quick Access or any other iteration of the same cannot be seen.
It is highly infuriating when saving to folder on an external drive or mapped computer, to go through all of the many stages (go to network drives/select/select folder etc. rather than just one click in Quick Access. I have no idea how to add folders to "Favorites" there just doesn't seem to be an option.

Whatever this move to a new layout was, it was not thought out or implemented very well.

    Does anyone have any ideas??

The quick access label was completely removed, and what's left are my pinned folders.

I tried this, but my pinned folders are not in the navigation pane - ALL of my folders are in the navigation pane, not just the ones I pinned to quick access.

I've looked into this further - the strange thing is that *some* of my quick access folders appear in the home screen when saving a file - I just found them when saving an attachment from outlook. But only the first 7 or so (similar to OP, I had carefully arranged my folders in QA and this is frustrating to loose - simple tasks are taking much longer than they used to).

The home screen on windows explorer goes from "recommended" to "favorites" to "recent" - and all of my recent files are from 2022, not actual recent files. Windows Explorer doesn't show my quick access at all - navigation pane or home screen.

I have the same problem. I have searched and searched and cannot find a solution. I really do not want to do a full reset on my computer, but this is really slowing me down at work. If anyone has more suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Richard
