All of a sudden when I connect by phone to my PC via USB cable, the PC will start showing the photos on my phone and then a "Device is unreachable" error pops up. I haven't made any changes to settings and I have have been using the same phone & laptop for the last couple of years with no problems.

    Hi,

    [SOLVED]

I was able to fix this for me. Hope this helps someone else.

I got the "device unreachable error" while trying to transfer videos from my Samsung S23 to Windows laptop. Funny enough, I was able to transfer photos without any problem.

I was able to fix this by clicking on the "USB file transfer turned on" from the notifications. This opened "USB Settings". When I scrolled down to the bottom, there was "File transfer options" settings. I turned on Transcode exported video option and this fixed the issue.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

JUst today, on a busy Thanksgiving day, none of my photos were showing up on my android and were not transferring to my laptop. Never had this happen before. Ruined my whole afternoon.

Looking over the comments, it appears to be a Windows issue. I ran into the same issue. Running: Win 11 Pro 22H2 22621.3007. Hardware, Ryzen 9 5950x, 128 GB DDR4, on ROG CrossHair VIII Formula MOBO, Asus AMD 7900 XTX card. Attempting to back up my ASUS ROG3 running Android 12 to my storage array running 8, 6 TB WD drives on a PREC H320 running a RAID 10. Performed all troubleshooting on the phone side, and isolated the issue to Windows as backup performed flawlessly on my primary laptop running Ubuntu 23.10. The laptop runs a 9th gen i7, 32 GB RAM, and NVIDIA GTX 1650. Enterprise system administrator and engineer of 20 years.

The "fixes" don't appear to be from Microsoft. How do I know they are safe?
