I understand window 7 is already terminated support, if I reinstall window 7 and run window update, would all past service pack and patches still available for window 7?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :>

Is this a recent develpment? I have re-installed and done all the updates, after updating 3138612 on systems as recently as 6 months ago. Activation was only available using the telephone system but it worked just fine

SP1 was just one of the many updates that were offered

Maintaining Win7 for me and my clients has been made vastly simpler because I have always created a system image just after install and all updates and activation but before data and other apps were installed. Those system images are like magic. I replace a failing hard drive, then restore that image and we have a working, updated and activated system ready and ready to go in less than an hour -- every time.

The only time I need to do a complete install is on a machine I have not worked on before.

You can't obtain Service Pack 1 at Windows Update anymore since 2020.

You can obtain Service Pack 1 at the Microsoft Update Catalog, but you can't access the Catalog right away.

IE8 can access the Catalog after checking "Use TLS 1.2".

Mozilla Firefox has an "Extended Support Release" version that will run on Windows 7 and will access the Microsoft Update Catalog with no issues.

    No.

Enabling Windows Update requires Servcie Pack 1 installed, but not Service Pack 1 alone. Manual download and installation of a Windows Update Client of June 2014 or later is required.

The patches themselves are available except the March 2019 Servicing Stack Update will give you a hard time being offered.

I've seen a lot of Win7 systems that have not had updates in many years. Not even since before SP1 came out. The only way to build an up to date Win7 system is to do a complete re-install. After the install is complete, and ensuring you have a Network connection, proceed directly to Win Update. Do NOT install anything else yet.

    Downlaod and install KB3138612 manually

    64 bit

    32 bit

Then proceed to Win Up. In that update process (which may run more than once), SP1 will be offered as just one of those updaes.

VolumeZ may have something to say about this.

This is not an actual Service Pack. It's KB2533552...
