How to check if my windows installation is Activated?

Hi,

How can i check if i purchased the windows 11 version from my Microsoft account?

I bought a custom-built desktop last year and the Windows 11 was on trial version. I could see the "Windows trial version" message on the right bottom corner of my desktop.

I recently noticed that the message is gone and under activation state, it says: Windows is activated with a digital license. I'm not sure if i purchased windows and activated it myself. How do i check if my windows license is valid or get a history of my purchase from my microsoft account?

Thank you.

It is a retail digital license. It did say Retail on that screen, and the last 5 digits is the generic key's last 5, when those two go together, it indicates digital license. This is typically seen for those users who claimed free upgrade from Windows 7/8 to windows 10. That's why I asked that previous question.

Since your account is the one using the computer now and the license is activated on this, it is currently linked to your account. Unfortunately there's no way to tell who it was linked to before this, if there was any.

There's no issue from the look of it at all, I just cannot tell how you got it, but I can tell you with confidence that there's no issue with this license.

    Hi,

I'm not sure. I have a laptop that has a valid original Windows installation. It runs on Windows 10 but i never upgraded it to Windows 11.

Both the laptop and my current desktop is synced to the same Microsoft account.

By looking at the screenshot can you tell what type of license i currently have(FPP, OEM or volume)?

Do you think this is a valid windows standalone license?

Is there any way to check who the license is linked to?

I was planning on buying a windows for my desktop but never got to it since the trial version never bothered me and was not using the desktop that actively.

    Thanks for the help :)

Interesting, your Windows' license status looks fine, and it is on a digital license.

Since you never purchased one, any chance you might have claimed a free Windows upgrade using this Microsoft account in the past? For example, Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 upgrade in the past? If so, that digital license is with your Microsoft account.

    Hello Dennis, thi sis Emily.

You can go to your Microsoft account https://account.live.com, sign in, then click on Payment & Billing > Order history, from there you can review your purchase history. You might want to adjust the time filter so you can see older orders from more than 3 months ago.

In addition, Can you please type cmd in the search on the taskbar and hit enter to launch command prompt, then run the following command:

    slmgr /dlv

Then share a screenshot please. Thanks!
