Hi Emily,
It's for a single device.
Many thanks.

Hi,
I need to change the operating system (Windows 10 Pro) which was provided by the PC vendor as the default OEM os.
However, because I want to set it up as a Kiosk, I would need to change the OS to the Windows 10 Education Pro edition.
Is this possible? Does it incur additional costs?
Could someone help me please?

Hello, this is Emily.
Yes, this will iccur additional cost because Pro and Education are two different types of editions and different licenses. You will need the education license specifically to upgrade Pro to Education. Is this just one single device or are you deploying this on multiple devices?
Because your computer wasn't purchased with a k-12 academic licenses through OEM partners, it cannot be turned into a Pro Education edition at no cost. Just like you said, you can manually change it, to strip down certain features to make it like the Pro Education edition (Not Education edition, but Pro Education, they are two different things). This is the way to do it without cost.
The link I shared with you list all of the things you can disable current Pro edition:
Windows Spotlight on the lock screen.
Start menu app suggestions.
Additional apps on Start.
Windows tips.
Microsoft account notifications.
By disabling the features above, will that meet the needs? If not, then you will need to contact an academic partner to get an education license.
Or do you need detail instruction how to disable all of those features in group policy?
The current device is a Dell desktop PC bundled with Windows 10 Pro.
I had a look at the link you have provided me with, but it does not really address my issue.
I need to be able to set the device to act as a kiosk with a win32 application as shell. In order to do so I need to have the shell launcher which is available only on either Windows 10 Enterprise or Educational Edition. aka Use Shell Launcher to create a Windows client kiosk.
It is therefore that I need to change the current Pro edition to an Educational edition.
From what I understand, the Educational edition is in some way a stripped down version compared to the full pro version. Hence my question: can it be changed without additional costs?
Hi, my apologies.. I realized you actually meant Pro Education, not Education.
How did you purchase your current device that came with the OEM? Did you purchase with discounted K-12 academic licenses through OEM partners (aka National Academic or Shape the Future)?
Since you won't be qualified for volume licensing otherwise, you can use configuration to achieve same/similar result without needing separate license. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/confi...
