Data Drive (D) not accessible

This morning I restarted my computer to install the latest batch of windows updates. Some time after the computer restarted a message appeared in the lower-right corner of the screen. It disappeared too quickly for me to read all of it, but I did catch the word SATA and something about a drive becoming disconnected. When I checked my computer I found that I was unable to access my Data Drive, labeled the D Drive. The only thing that has managed to temporarily restore it is when I restart the computer, but it's never for very long. The message I receive when trying to add an item to the drive is as follows:

"D:\ is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or Internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted."

The only remaining path to this drive is in my Quick Access bar in Windows Explorer. It now says "D:", where it used to say Data (D:). My laptop is a GL75 95D and my OS is Windows 10. Please ask if any further information is required. Thank you.

The reason that I never followed up for this problem was that, a few days after I posted the original message, I found that upon turning my computer on in the morning the problem had apparently resolved itself. The internal HDD had reconnected itself, so I assumed that whatever had happened was just a temporary glitch, so I moved on from there.

However, yesterday I attempted to install a program of somewhere between 50-70 GB on the same HDD, and it disconnected again. It occurred in the very late evening, so I simply shut my computer off to see if it would reconnect when I turned it on in the morning. Upon doing so, I saw that the HDD had indeed reconnected itself.

I had made no changes to the hardware of my computer since then, and I have been able to put small files on the HDD without it disconnecting. However, I have been reluctant to use the drive due to the problem resurfacing.

Below is a screenshot of how my Disk Manager appears whenever the HDD is registering as being connected.
