I wonder how it is possible that an official MS advisor could suggest a AV scan, a dism repair, a system check or directly OS reinstallation, for such a foolish thing. The correct answer is to uncheck and then recheck "don't show hidden system files" in the Explorer settings and to check "Hide empty drives". It's an old Windows bug that occurs when you insert/connect a microsd card in its PC slot. It's a bug that MS never fixed, as many other old and new bugs.
Removable Storage Devices folder on my desktop.
So I found an folder on my desktop on Windows. At the desktop, I see an folder, reading "Removable Storage Devices". I don't know why this was here. I can't delete the folder with a right click. I can't add items to the folder. I can't move it to the trash can. From an Reddit post, it shows all of the Removable Storage Drives that you have installed on this folder. I tried refreshing my Desktop, but it came back. Sometimes for a second, it disappears. On second thought, when I install a new program with adding an desktop shortcut, it replaces the folder on the desktop. It also does not have Removable Devices on this folder (if there's one installed on the PC), but on the start menu, it is shown invisible, and hiding invisible link addresses to different websites (like outlook.com). How do I fix this like using the Regedit or using the CMD? Thanks in advance!

2023-09-21T21:03:04+00:00 The correct answer is to enable : Hide empty drives and don't show hidden files, folders or drives
This. And thank you.
It's worth mentioning that the box may already be checked. Just uncheck and recheck it to remove the folder.
When Microsoft creates a problem, it doesn't do so by halves.

2023-06-23T05:41:31+00:00 Hi, Daniel. I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.
The first thing that you can try is to run a Windows Defender offline scan to check if the folder was not created by a malware. You can see how to do it at this link.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hel...
Then you can use these commands to find and fix corrupted files on Windows.
1-Right-Click on Start then click on Windows Powershell (admin)
2- Type these commands.
sfc /scannow (and press Enter)
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth (and press Enter)
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth (and press Enter)
3- The DISM tool will report whether the image is healthy, repairable, or non-repairable. If the image is repairable, you can use the /RestoreHealth argument to repair the image.
4-Type this command and press Enter:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
If the problem persists, you can see at this link other troubleshooting including a deletion of the folder using the Registry editor.

Show/Don't Show hidden files, folders and drives should only be based on the "Hidden" attribute in properties.
Empty drives don't even have a Hidden option in properties so they shouldn't be affected by the Show/Don't Show hidden....
