Big packet lose on my network. Have no idea what causes that issue?

So I've bought myself new laptop recently and after some time I start to feel that my internet is working differently than before. I thought it was ISP problem or just bad days, because I have wi-fi and it could happen. After a while with these problems present I decided to test it how it looks on my old pc. So I did some ping tests and saw that the same network doesn't have any packet loss on old pc but constantly on new.

I then proceed to do most common fixes like updating my drivers etc. And then after a while restarting my pc on and off I realised it was stable again, I thought the updates just worked, but no the lag spikes went back after some time. So I restarted my pc again and once more there was no packet loss.

Now every time I reboot my pc the internet is working normally without any packet loss or anything and after maybe an hour or so it starts to lag. I have no idea how to pinpoint what is causing that. I have freshly installed Windows 11, recently did all updates.

What else I can do? How to figure out what is causing that?

Well I have found the issue. It's gonna be the very crazy one.

The whole problem was caused by my screenshot app - Lightscreen. For some weird reason when I were launching that app it will make my internet lose packets and the moment I close it became normal again. So no wonder rebooting pc was working for that.

I've deleted that app and everything is fine. Thank you for reply.

Wow, did you perform a clean boot to narrow that down, or you just discovered it? Well, I am very glad you found the culprit. Thank you for sharing your findings.

    Hello, this is Emily.

This issue definitely can be caused by more than one possibilities, so let's see if we can narrow it down.

You said you've updated the wifi driver, did you install it from the computer's manufacturer support website? That's what I would recommend. Also, make sure BIOS is also updated. If you need help finding driver, please type msinfo32.exe in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, then share a screenshot of the pop up please.

In addition, have you tried moving the computer closer to the router and see if distance can make any difference?

One more thing I can think of - do you have quite a few devices connected to the same Wifi? Does your router have Quality of Service (QoS) feature? Go to your router's admin portal and see if you have this feature, if so, turn it off, and see if it makes any difference. The QoS can prioritize one device over another depending on what that device is doing, so that can cause lagging on the device with low priority.
