I'm curious to know why you mentioned creating your own driver based on the XP driver. I ask because I found a driver for the same model dated August 25, 2010, on this website: https://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion/datab...
I could be mistaken and that driver could not even work for you, so I'm just wondering if there's something I might be missing.
Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.
But at the end, it’s not uncommon for older hardware to receive driver updates, even if the product is no longer sold. This can happen when the manufacturer or Microsoft identifies a bug, compatibility issue, or security vulnerability that needs to be addressed.
In your case, the “ViewSonic - Display - ViewSonic VX2453 Series” driver update you’re seeing is likely a legitimate update for your monitor.
If you’re concerned about the update causing issues, you could create a system restore point before installing it. This way, if anything goes wrong, you can revert your system back to its previous state.
