I am glad it is already working now. You are welcome and happy holidays!
My microphone isn't working and I have no idea what to do after having tried everything I could find/think of.
Hi, I've recently assembled my first ever desktop PC, with (activated) Windows 11 Home. Everything works fine except the microphone, which is part of an Onikuma K1 headset. I can hear everything as I should, but no input is transferred from my microphone. I have connected the headset to the monitor via an AUX cable, which is in turn connected to the GPU via a DisplayPort cable.
I have tried the following so far:
- Fully restarting the PC, monitor and microphone
- Allowing access to the microphone for all apps
- Making sure Windows is up-to-date
- Updating all drivers
- Making sure the microphone works with other devices
- Using different ports to connect the headset
- Connecting the monitor to the motherboard instead of the GPU
None of the actions listed above worked and I also don't see my headset or any microphone listed anywhere (Discord, Device Manager and Settings). I've also searched the web for any form of help or advice, but my efforts were fruitless. Do you have any idea as to what else I could try? Thanks in advance!
Edit: the microphone did work when I used the monitor with my old laptop (though they were connected via HDMI instead of DisplayPort)

2023-12-28T18:15:57+00:00 Hi,
Kayece here, An Independent advisor and a user just like you. I will be happy to assist you today.
I am sorry that you are experiencing this issue. Since you have already done most of the troubleshooting, can you perform the followings step to check your mic is on Default Device and Levels is not muted?
*Press Win key + R > Type in mmsys.cpl and hit enter.
*Go to the Recording tab, and make sure your headset mic is listed there as Default Device.
*Double-click on it and then go to the Levels tab. Make sure it is not muted.
*Go back to the Recording tab and then right-click on Microphone and choose Properties.
*Go to the Advanced tab and check if the options under Exclusive Mode are unchecked.
*Click Apply > OK
If the above does not help, please run the recording audio troubleshooter.
Select Start > Settings > System > Sound > Troubleshoot common sound problems and select Input devices.
If you need more help, let me know.
Stay Safe!

2023-12-29T09:57:35+00:00 Hi again, I have found the problem. I had incorrectly connected the headset to my PC. I have an extension cable for my headset with a separate mic/headphones connector, and I didn't know my PC also has separate ports for those. I now use this extension cable with their appropriate ports and my PC now detects a microphone which is set to being the Default Device.
Thanks again for the help, and happy holidays!

2023-12-28T18:41:29+00:00 Thank you very much for the swift reply! While attempting to check whether or not my mic is on Default Device and Levels is muted, I encountered an issue. My mic/headset does not appear to be listed in the devices at all (details in the attached screenshot). Because of this, I was unable to view the status of the device and the trouble shooter also did not detect an input device.
