Impossible to pair my Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard

I got this keyboard for work in 2021, until last week it worked like a charm until last week. I noticed there was an issue with it after IT had to do some work on my laptop.

When working on getting all my settings back I could not get the keyboard to connect back despite the Bluetooth working fine on the laptop (no issue connecting back my mouse, headset). I changed the batteries and then tried to get the keyboard to go into pairing mode but the DEL that supposed to blink after pressing the pairing button for 5 seconds does not start despite the keyboard still being seemingly powered: the DEL briefly lights up when I put batteries in.
I also went to the Settings menu, services.msc and had a look at the drivers, but considering my other laptop does not detect the keyboard either, I started to suspect it was malfunctioning. It did not fall, there was no spill, it just stopped working abruptly which never happened with any of my previous keyboards.
Was I just unlucky or is this a known issue?

Hi Hahn! Thank you for your answer.

I realized reading you that downloading the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center was also one of the steps I took (I followed the advice on the page you linked), but to no avail since the light is not flashing.
I will try to contact the Support directly but my keyboard is now too old for any type of warranty (2.5 years).

    Best,

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that your Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard is not working properly. It sounds like you have tried some of the common troubleshooting steps, such as replacing the batteries, checking the Bluetooth settings, and restarting the Bluetooth Support Service. However, it seems that the keyboard is not entering the pairing mode, which could indicate a hardware issue with the device.

According to the Microsoft Support website [Troubleshoot problems with your Microsoft mouse or keyboard - Microsoft Support], if the pairing light flashes three times, then turns off, your keyboard might have a problem that can be fixed by updating the firmware. To do this, you need to download and install the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, and then follow the instructions to update the firmware of your keyboard. This might help to resolve the issue and make your keyboard work again.

If updating the firmware does not help, or if the pairing light does not flash at all, then your keyboard might be defective or damaged. In that case, you might need to contact Microsoft Support or the retailer where you bought the keyboard to request a replacement or a refund. Contact Us - Microsoft Support

I hope this information helps you to fix your keyboard problem. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me.

    Your Sincerely

Hahn - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
