The website to get my BitLocker recovery key isn’t loading. Is there any other way to access that key?

This morning I woke up to being locked out of my laptop. It asked for my BitLocker recovery key and gave me the website to find it on. For the past 6 hours, the website will not load for me to access that recovery key. Is there any other way to get access to this key or am I stuck until the website decides to work?

I had this problem over the last few days too, and someone finally found a solution that works.

    1. Go to your OneDrive account at https://onedrive.live.com/ . If it's frozen due to you having exceeded your available storage space, that's the problem.
    2. Delete files or purchase more storage space until you're below your storage limit.
    3. Wait 12-24 hours for the system to automatically unfreeze your OneDrive account. It won't unfreeze right away, even if you're well below the storage limit.

Once that's done, your Bitlocker page should work again. Don't ask me why, all I know is that it worked for me.

I hope this works for you too!

Confirmed working for me, didn't even wait 24 hours to unfreeze. Mine was instantly. This is absurd, and should 100% not be in the list of things that are locked when you exceed storage. Or it should clearly point you in that direction. Thank you Shepard.

If you have Windows 10 Home then it is Device encryption that uses BitLocker and is set automatically during initial setup depending on settings in the bios.

If you didn't save the recovery key then it probably won't be there anyway even if the site loads. I have seen this same image from other users here on the forum.

The only option will be a clean install which deletes all data on the internal drive. There is no workaround for a missing recovery key I'm afraid.

I have Windows 11 Home I believe. The website gives me an error after I put in my information, and it tells me to wait and bit and try again, which I have for over 6 hours now. Before today I didn’t know what this was so I had never saved it or see it before. I have added a photo of what I see after I enter my information.
