0x8007065e when updating

I'm like 100% sure this is caused by my dad's stupid Driver Booster app which i've already uninstalled.

I hadn't had any updates in a while so I decided to check for updates and it started trying to update to "2023-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5033372)" but after about 10 minutes of being stuck on 0%, it gives up and tells me "There were problems downloading some updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this, try searching the web or contacting support for help. This error code might help: (0x8007065e)

This is a brand new computer after my previous one died, I don't particularly feel like losing another one to corrupted drivers again. How do I fix this?

I've tried the troubleshooter, it doesn't work and gets stuck on "resolving problems" for ages. I don't want to do anything that will corrupt even more files and brick my PC again.

UPDATE: Ran SFC /Scannow. Found errors, fixed them, then said "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations" after retrying to see any changes. The first try did fix a couple network issues but the update still doesn't work and I get the same error. No idea what to do now.

EDIT: Upon finding the Scannow log, I found this line of text. I assume this has something to do with it.

UPDATE (on a different account): Fixed it with help from the tech support discord. Here's a link to a guide on how I fixed it if anyone else has the same problem. (Catroot2 may not actually need to be renamed. The problem in my case was with Softwaredistribution being corrupt and windows update being disabled instead)

Hello! I was able to solve this problem by restarting the cache and resetting the SoftwareDistribution folder. For some reason there was a corruption prefenting the service from opening, but it has been fixed now and my PC is up to date.

    Thankyou for your assistance!

If the issue still persists, please try performing an In-place Upgrade. It will definitely help in resolving update errors. Performing this can repair broken operating system files while your personal files, settings and installed applications will not be removed.

Few things to check on the PC

**Unplug all external peripherals except for the Mouse, Keyboard, and LAN cable before starting

**Disable or uninstall any 3rd party Anti-Virus program to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade

Download the media creation tool(Click Download tool now) and save it to your computer.
